The story begins on Louis Drax's 9th birthday, when a lifetime of curious mishaps culminates in the boy's near-fatal fall. Now, I didn’t know that the movie was based on a book before I saw it so I’m giving myself a free pass on my rule of trying to read the book before seeing the movie.
